Aelundara
House: Astraea
Founding-era name (historical): Silvanus
Terrain: Verdant (forest)
Summary
Aelundara is the homeworld of House Astraea, a forest world whose canopy was already ancient when the first landers came down through it. The colonists who walked out under those trees named the planet Silvanus, for the old Sol-system god of the woods. For generations the name fit the world they were learning to live in. Then the translators recovered the previous civilisation's own word for the planet, and the house set the borrowed god aside for the older name. Aelundara is the closest rendering the translation could reach. Hardly anyone says Silvanus now outside the founding logs that first recorded it.
The world
The forest canopy is high and old. The Astraea spread out across it in their first generations rather than clearing it away, building among the crowns instead of beneath them. The Archive sits in the deepest old growth, far back where the oldest trees still stand. Of all the houses, Astraea kept the most widely distributed population, settled thin and far across the canopy rather than gathered into cities.
