Summary

Sharing tapered across roughly the decade following the last artifact discovery. By then each house had spent enough time with its own artifact that the worldview embedded in it had begun to shape them, and the groups started to suspect that the others had reached conclusions they were not telling. First it was politics, then secrets, and then came the alleged raids, the alleged kidnappings, the alleged hacks.

What happens

Roughly fifty years after arrival, the six houses were formally declared, and across the two centuries that followed a cold posture became the norm, broken now and then by heat. Lillith Umberlin became the first to cross the Veil and returned with seven words no one could decode, and the three sub-factions formed in response. The Archive activated and produced the eighteen-family optimisation. The Veil crossings that followed yielded only fragments. Through all of it the houses circled one another, building, watching, calculating.
