Skell

"What is never spoken can never be used against you. The secret kept is power held in reserve; what is said aloud is spent, and belongs from then on to whoever heard it."

House: Nox
Terrain: Ignis (+2 power)
Name: recovered from the ancient record through translation

Skell is a territory world of House Nox, a planet of black rock and slow fire where the ground itself keeps its heat hidden underneath.

Naming voice

Skell is the shortest name in the recovered Nox register, one syllable, and the translators left it almost untouched in the bringing-over because there was nothing to soften: a single closed sound, the name said and finished before a listener could be sure it was said at all.

The inscription

One of the 54 edicts: the inscription this world carries, protected under the Stratagem Accord.

Theme: Silence / the unspeakable.
Discovery. Survey teams found a sealed door set into the face of a volcanic cliff, stone fitted to stone with a precision that had held for two hundred thousand years. Expecting a tomb or a vault, they spent days prying the door from its seat. It opened onto a small chamber walled in polished obsidian and entirely empty, with the edict cut deep into the rear wall. There were no remains, no goods, no second room. The previous civilisation had quarried into the cliff and sealed the work behind a door built to outlast them, and the carving was the only thing the chamber was ever built to hold.
