Ielunne
"The ice keeps what the world above it forgets. For us there is no final arrival, only the next hands taking up the work, so the work was always the point and never the end of it."
House: Astraea
Terrain: Glacian (+1 power)
Name: recovered from the ancient record through translation
Ielunne is a territory world of House Astraea, an ice world sheeted in glaciers that have been moving, slowly and without pause, since long before the previous civilisation fell.
Naming voice
Ielunne begins with two vowels run together, a sound the translators had to learn before they could say the name at all, and once learned it comes out soft, almost without consonants, a name shaped like the quiet it was given to.
The inscription
One of the 54 edicts: the inscription this world carries, protected under the Stratagem Accord.
Theme: Patience / preservation.
Discovery. Deep-survey soundings picked out a sealed structure under the glacial ice, and the teams cut down to it through metres of blue compression. What they reached was a seed vault, buried there on purpose by the previous civilisation. The stone cells inside still held their seeds. On the wall above them the edict was carved, and the strokes were so unweathered that fine dust from the original cutting still lay in the bottoms of the deepest letters. No wind or water had entered since the door was sealed.
