Velhun
"What is quiet outlasts; what is loud spends itself and ends. Silence is the long sleep in which everything that lasts is made."
House: Nox
Terrain: Verdant (+2 power)
Name: recovered from the ancient record through translation
Velhun is a territory world of House Nox, green and overgrown across its surface, with the quiet of a place that has been left to itself for a long time.
Naming voice
Velhun shares its first syllable with Velhuneth, the Nox homeworld, and the translators take the echo as deliberate, a paired naming in the old register, the lesser green world carrying the first breath of the greater one's name.
The inscription
One of the 54 edicts: the inscription this world carries, protected under the Stratagem Accord.
Theme: Silence / endurance.
Discovery. Beneath the forest the previous civilisation cut a chamber from the bedrock and dressed it in fitted stonework shaped to swallow sound, every surface angled so that no voice inside could carry or return. Survey teams broke through the collapsed entrance and found the room empty except for the edict, carved into the central wall. The acoustics still worked as built. A crew member reading the words aloud could barely be heard by the person standing beside them. The ancient Nox had engineered a silence and then written inside it, and after two hundred thousand years the room was still doing the one thing it was made to do.
