Aevenia
"What does not move corrodes, and what does not draw, drains away. To live is to take in power and turn it to work, and to take in more."
House: Solari
Terrain: Verdant (+2 power)
Name: recovered from the ancient record through translation
Aevenia is a Solari territory of green and growing terrain, a world where the land itself feeds the current the house draws.
Naming voice
Aevenia runs four syllables without a single hard stop, vowel handing off to vowel through the softest consonants the old script had. It is a name that conducts; nothing in it resists the flow from first sound to last. On a world whose buried plates have kept a current alive for two hundred thousand years, no one who has worked the recovery believes the fit was an accident.
The inscription
One of the 54 edicts: the inscription this world carries, protected under the Stratagem Accord.
Theme: Decisiveness.
Discovery. Beneath a forested plateau the crews found a current-distribution station that had never fully gone dark. Conductive plates taller than a person stood in a long row through the subterranean chamber, faint arcs still crossing the gaps between them. Each plate was alive to the touch after an age in which everything above it had grown, died, and grown again. The edict ran across the plates in sequence, one passage to a face. The words could only be read by moving down the row from one plate to the next, the same way the current itself moved through the line. The crews read the edict the only way it allowed, walking the live row with the arcs crossing behind them.
