One of the six artifacts left behind by the ancient civilisation that ended itself ~200,000 years ago.

What it is

Silence is a single ancient blade, and the only one of the six artifacts that could never be reproduced. It is nearly impossible to see. Detection fails against it across the spectrum, the eye slides past it, and sensors return nothing or close to nothing. The blade is real and it cuts, but it does not show itself. It was recovered from the wreck of an ancient ship that had crashed on Velhuneth and frozen into the ice.

The temple

In the temple of the Veil on Velhuneth, in the middle of the great room, stands a pedestal raised for Silence. It stands at the height a hand would reach, its line running straight to the threshold of the Veil. Gatekeepers stand guard over it.

Pilgrims walk the length of the room and see the pedestal. They see the Gatekeepers. They see armed guards watching over something that is not there.
