Vorrak
"Throw before the ground can answer, for the gap belongs to the fast and closes on all the rest."
House: Kael
Terrain: Ignis (+2 power)
Name: recovered from the ancient record through translation
Vorrak is a volcanic world held by House Kael, ignis territory, and the edict it carries stands on the rim of a pit where the ancient Kael once tested their Drives against the planet's own fire.
Naming voice
Vorrak is among the shortest of the recovered Kael names, two beats and done, the rolled middle snapped clean by the final stop. The old Kael could stretch a name when they wanted to, and the fact that they did not stretch this one says something about the place it belonged to.
The inscription
One of the 54 edicts: the inscription this world carries, protected under the Stratagem Accord.
Theme: Decisive action.
Discovery. The pit itself was the first evidence of what had happened here. Its walls are fused to black glass, melted smooth by discharges of an energy the surveyors could measure but not name. The signature matched ancient Drive trials run at full commitment against the volcanic rock. A stone observation rim circles the top. The edict is cut into it at the position where the trial crews would have stood, looking down into the pit in the moments before a run. The surveyors took the words down from that same spot, the heat-shimmer rising past them from the depths.
