Threnara
"Nothing stays hidden from the one who watches long enough, and to see a thing first is to have already moved against it."
House: Myndari
Terrain: Verdant (+2 power)
Name: recovered from the ancient record through translation
Threnara is a verdant world in the territory of House Myndari, covered in forest old enough to have grown up around the ruins it hides, and it holds one of the edicts.
Naming voice
Threnara rolls open and then drifts shut, three syllables that lose their edges as the name goes on, and it sits comfortably among the long, fluid words the old Myndari favoured. Their names were currents, and this one moves the same way.
The inscription
One of the 54 edicts: the inscription this world carries, protected under the Stratagem Accord.
Theme: Knowing / seeing first.
Discovery. The spire showed on the first orbital pass, a needle of dark alloy standing clear above the canopy at the heart of the deep forest. On the ground the crews found that the trees had grown up around it for two hundred thousand years without ever overtaking it. The old growth crowded its base, and the vines climbed partway up the shaft before stopping, as if the metal gave them nothing to hold. The crews cleared the undergrowth from its foot and found the edict etched into the alloy at eye level, unworn. The forest had taken the weather on itself all that time and left the words alone. The structure reads as a listening-spire in the ancient Myndari pattern, built to watch. The inscription stands exactly where anyone coming to it would stop and look up.
