One of three families within Kael. The eighteen-family system is the Archive's optimisation of the founding 60,000 colonist population. Three genetically distinct groupings per house, 18 total across the system. Cross-house pairings recommended by the Archive keep the broader gene pool varied across generations.
Character of the line
Varkos was the Kael line whose name finishes before the listener is ready, and the family lived up to it. It carried the house's taste for the resolved situation, the engagement brought to its end rather than left hanging, and it was known among the three for arriving at the conclusion a beat ahead of everyone still working out the question.
The temperament was quick and unapologetic. A Varkos spoke fast, decided fast, and treated the spread of possible outcomes as something to be narrowed by acting rather than studied from a distance. Where Karrow steadied and Riven cut, Varkos closed, and of the three lines it was the one most comfortable with the abruptness that decisive action leaves in its wake.
