Character of the line
Vesper was the Nox line of the evening and the last call, the family that made endings into a discipline. Its name held the close of the day, and the family carried the house's conviction that the universe ends things and that what survives is what stays quiet long enough to outlast everything louder than it.
The temperament ran toward the decisive close rather than the long visible campaign. A Vesper withheld a capability for years rather than spend it on a win someone could admire, and measured an outcome by what was left standing after the noise died. Where Umberlin moved unseen and Hollowyn embodied the house's emptiness, Vesper was the line most concerned with the final stroke, the single removal that landed at exactly the right moment and was never seen to land at all.
